TriValley Central > Eloy Enterprise > Top Stories > AZ Department of Housing launches foreclosure assistance program, Save My Home Arizona: "PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Housing has announced that it has launched the new Save My Home AZ program, designed to assist homeowners facing foreclosure.�The primary component of the program is a principle reduction that will bring the current mortgage payments down to match the current value of the home.�

President Obama announced on Feb. 19 that the U.S. Department of Treasury would be financing $1.5 billion in foreclosure mitigation to those states hardest hit by the housing crisis, with Arizona receiving $125.1 million of those funds.�
One of Arizona’s earliest concerns about the award was the sheer number of Arizonans facing foreclosure and the realization that the Treasury award, while a significant amount of money, could do little to stabilize a problem of overwhelming magnitude.

“With a foreclosure rate that is currently second in the nation, it was pretty clear from the beginning that the $125.1 million allocation coming to Arizona could not be impactful with respect to the sheer number of households needing assistance.�At best, these funds will assist just over 4,000 households or around 11,000 individuals to remain in their homes,” commented ADOH Director Michael Trailor."

With all the money the government has doled out we could have avoided if they would just have crcked down on mortgage fraud. wrote off fraud mortggages and made accountable those forging documents as in robo signing.

"Shapiro & Fishman this morning asked a Palm Beach judge to 'quash' an investigative subpoena by the AG's office.

An attorney representing the firm said a subpoena for marketing and advertising material does not pertain to the allegations.

Florida's Attorney General has accused three large 'foreclosure mills' of rushing cases through the system and potentially fabricating documents and signatures.

The firms under investigation are David J. Stern, Marshall C. Watson, and Shapiro & Fishman,"

"Florida Circuit Court Judge Bernard Nachman sanctioned GMAC in May 2006, saying that the company “submitted false testimony to the court in the form of affidavits of indebtedness.” The company was ordered to submit an explanation and confirmation that the policies were changed, and told to pay defendants’ legal costs of $8,135.55."

Max Gardner III, a bankruptcy attorney at Gardner & Gardner PLLC in Shelby, North Carolina, who is not directly involved in either GMAC case. “It’s the exact same thing,” Gardner said. “This is not just a GMAC problem. Deborah Rhode, a Stanford University law professor and director of the school’s Center on the Legal Profession, said GMAC Mortgage’s behavior may amount to misleading the court.

"The 2006 case stems from a GMAC Mortgage foreclosure that began in August 2004 on a home owned by Robert and Lillian Jackson. The filing included an affidavit signed by a GMAC officer laying out the amount owed on the loan.
